The time is here! Angela and I, along with some of our friends, arrived today to the Now Jade. This is our first time here too, and let me tell you – it’s a beaut! The arrival and check-in process is super easy – here are some tips.
Arrival Forms
On the plane, you’ll probably receive 2 forms – one for customs (which is one per household) and one for immigration (which is one per person). Bring a ballpoint pen with you on the plane and complete this form before the plane lands! We saw lots of people sent out of line becuase they hadn’t completed the forms yet.
Landing at Cancun
Once you’re on the ground, it will feel like getting off of any other plane. Simply follow the crowd into the terminal and to the immigration line. Families traveling together can approach the immigration officers together.
Past immigration you’ll get to baggage claim. There are luggage carts, but we found them to not be very helpful, and you can only use them for a short distance – skip them.
Once you have all of your items collected, line up for 2 sections of Customs. The first will look like a large security scanner. If you have any fresh fruits, vegetables, or anything of serious value, they’ll find it. Make sure you have things marked on your declaration form.
Past that screening, you’ll get to a counter with an agent pointing at a red button. One person in your group will press the button. This is a random selection for additional screening. If you get a green light, you’re good to go! If you get a red light, you’ll be sent aside to have your bags inspected.
Once past the button, you’ll exit into a weird middle-room. If you have a luggage cart, this is where you’ll need to give it up. There are also restooms in this room if needed. Walk straight through that room, to the automatic sliding doors which will take you outside.
Once outside, there will be a ramp with lots of people wearing pseudo-official looking shirts and signs, asking if you need a taxi. Ignore ALL of them and about 50 yards past the door look to the left for a white fence with a person holding this sign – they will take you to the resort!
Arrival to Now Jade and Optional Upgrade
The transport to Now Jade should be seamless. Once you’re at the resort, bellhops should be standing by to help guide you to the appropriate check in location – junior suites or preferred club. If you’re booked into junior suites, and if there’s still room available, you’ll be given the option to upgrade to preferred club. The 2 big selling points are access to the preferred club lounge (with a more substantial and premium spirit selection and snack food options), and access to the adults-only pool. Sounds like the cost is $70/day for the upgrade – up to you if it’s worth it.
