It’s never easy, right? The struggle is real. How do you pick a room? How do you balance between cost and features?
** Update: The Preferred Club Ocean View Rooms are now sold out! The Junior Suites Ocean View Rooms are still a great value, and less expensive overall from the Preferred Club. A great option!
First, the disclaimer: We haven’t been to the resort yet. Everything here is based on what our travel planner has told us, what we’ve found in online reviews, and what’s listed on the hotel website. Please don’t blame us if this info is wrong. Also, any of the prices below are for our room block, and may be different than what you’ve seen/will see. OK, on with it.
Start by picking a room level. The Now Jade Riviera Cancun basically has 2 room levels; Junior Suites and the Preferred Club. It seems like the rooms are all mixed together in different buildings. All rooms include all food and drink (juice, soft drinks and beer/wine/spirits), wifi, a balcony/terrace, a spa tub, access to a private lounge, and everything you’d expect in a modern hotel. The Preferred Club adds some upgrades, like robes and slippers, upgraded room service menus, double sinks in the bathroom, and a bunch of fluff.
The real benefit we see in the Preferred Club came down to 3 things.
- Larger rooms. Where the Junior Suites have very nice hotel-style rooms, the Preferred Club rooms have a separate living room area.
- A whirlpool on the balcony so we can chill, looking out on the ocean, away from the fray.
- Access to the adults-only pool. This was the dealbreaker for us. We love you, and we love your kids, but it’ll be nice to not hear the screaming of everyone else’s kids 😉
Once you pick a room level, your next choice is to pick the view you want. There are 3 options for views: The Tropical View, The Ocean View, and the Ocean Front. Note, tho, that the Preferred Club doesn’t offer a Tropical View – only Ocean View or Ocean Front.
The Tropical View rooms may have a view of the water, but most likely won’t. This is great if you don’t plan to spend a lot of time on your balcony/terrace, or not much time in your room at all. If the view doesn’t matter, this is the choice for you. Based on double occupancy and 7 nights, this room can come down to $155/night per person (and max at $161/night for a 3 night stay).
The Ocean View rooms will have a view of the water, but will likely be obscured somehow. Looking out the side of the balcony? Looking over/around a building? Could be one of these, or both. These rooms will save you some money from the Ocean Front – about $70/night (based on double occupancy) – a good choice if you’re looking for balance. Depending on how many nights you stay and if you choose the Junior Suites or the Preferred Club, these will range from $182-185/night per person.
The Ocean Front rooms… face the ocean. They will be closest to the water and have an unobstructed view to it. If being close to the water and hearing the waves crash is your thing, this is the room for you. Based on number of nights and room level, these will range from $191-227/night per person.
There’s no difference per person per night between double and triple occupancy, but there’s a big difference between single and double.
We opted for the Preferred Club Ocean Front room, because it’s our wedding. #TreatYoSelf. I think if I was you as a guest coming to the wedding, I’d go for the Preferred Club Ocean View. I’d suffer the chance of an obstructed view of the water for the benefits of the hot tub on the balcony and access to the adults-only pool. But that’s me.
No mater which room you choose, we’re gonna have a great time 🙂 Picked your room and ready to book? Do it!
